James Troup reported
that he has been working on re-implementing the archive maintenance tools
and switching to package pools. From this date, files are stored in a
directory named after the corresponding source package inside of the
pools directory. The distribution directories will
only contain Packages files that contain references to the pool. This
simplifies overlapping distributions such as testing and unstable. The
archive is also database-driven using PostgreSQL which also speeds up
lookups.
This concept of managing Debian's archives sort of like a package cache was first introduced by Bdale Garbee in this email to the debian-devel list in May of 1998.
2002년 11월 20일 08:00 CET 무렵, Twente University Network Operation Center(NOC)에 불이 붙었다.그 건물은 완전히 타 버렸다. 소방서는 서버 지역 보호에 대한 희망을 포기했다. 그 중에서도 NOC는 보안 및 비미국 아카이브와 새로운 유지관리(nm) 및 품질 보증(qa) 데이터베이스가 모두 들어있는 satie.debian.org을 주최했다. 데비안은 최근 미국에서 네덜란드로 이전한 호스트 클레커에 이런 서비스를 다시 지었다.
2003년 11월 19일 17:00 UTC를 시작으로 버그 추적, 메일링 목록, 보안 및 웹 검색을 위한 프로젝트의 주요 웹 서버 4대가 망가졌다. 서비스는 검사를 위해 철거되었고 다행히도 패키지 보관소가 이러한 절충의 영향을 받지 않았음을 확인할 수 있었다. 11월 25일, 모든 서비스가 복구되고 다시 온라인으로 돌아왔다.
